The Limelight IPL light-based skin treatment can dramatically reduce mottled complexions, freckles, sun spots and sun damage.

Limelight is an IPL (intense pulsed light) skin care treatment that treats age spots, freckles, brown spots, and diffuse red skin. Light brown spots, which were previously difficult to resolve, respond very well to treatment. Limelight can be used where you need it most - on the face, chest, arms and hands without gel or topical anesthetics.

Frequently Asked Questions

What areas can be treated?
We can treat almost any part of your body with sunspots, freckles and/or redness. The most popular areas for treatment are the face, chest, shoulders, arms and hands because they have suffered from the most sun exposure.

What does it feel like?
When the handpiece is placed on your skin, it will feel cool and comfortable. When the pulse of light is delivered, you may feel a mild, brief stinging sensation.

What can I expect afterwards?
Immediately following the treatment, the spots may start to darken. You may notice a slight reddening of the surrounding skin. This typically subsides within a couple of hours. Over the course of the next one to three weeks, darkened spots will fade and flake off. If you have diffuse redness or the fine veins are treated, you may have some swelling a day or two after treatment. The blushing will gradually lighten over the treatment package.

How many treatments will I need?
Typically, three to four treatments are sufficient to see dramatic results. Additional treatments may be required for very large or dark spots or for densely covered areas. When you come in for your consultation, we will give you information tailored to your particular needs and desires.

When will I see results?
Most patients find that the majority of their treated spots have shown significant improvement within two to three weeks after the very first treatment. Over the course of a few days after the first treatment, the treated spots will begin to darken and later flake off. Subsequent treatments continue to improve the areas and most patients see a dramatic result several weeks after the the last treatment. However, it is important to apply sunscreen liberally and avoid sun exposure throughout the period before, during, and after this treatment. As sun exposure promotes new brown sun spots from forming, this many clients choose to have 1 maintenance treatment of Limelight every year.

Can anyone have it done?
Anyone with a light to olive skin color may be a candidate for the LimeLight treatment. Those with any darker than a Caucasian Italian skin type are NOT candidates for this procedure. We will assess your particular skin type and let you know if you’re a candidate at the time of your consultation. A single procedure takes between 30 and 60 minutes and should be repeated at intervals of 4 weeks depending on skin type and condition. After the procedure, there is a slight blushing of the skin, which disappears after several hours.
